Job Description

Are you an early career researcher looking for your first challenge?  Do you have a background in Molecular Cell Biology or Virology?  Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

The Whitehouse research group is seeking a highly motivated research assistant to investigate how the human tumour virus, Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), manipulates host cell pathways to enhance its own replication. The project will use a range of molecular and cell biology approaches to highlight novel KSHV-mediated mechanisms to regulate viral gene expression. Moreover, this project aims to development novel strategies for antiviral intervention for this important human tumour virus.

For this role, you should have experience in a variety of molecular biology techniques such as qRT-PCR, protein production, mammalian cell culture, immunoblotting, lentivirus-shRNA depletion approaches and a variety of RNA-based techniques
