Organizational Unit Overview
The College of Health and Human Performance is home to eight academic units (offering over 30 degree options). The College has award winning faculty, world class research labs and a diverse student body.

The Department of Human Development and Family Science offers seven academic programs and a variety of experiences for students. Our academic programs include a BS in Birth through Kindergarten Teacher Education, BS in Family and Community Services, BS in Family and Consumer Sciences, MAEd in Birth-Kindergarten Education, MS in Human Development and Family Science, MS in Marriage and Family Therapy and a PhD in Medical Family Therapy. Undergraduate Students interested in Child Life can major in Family and Community Services with a concentration in Child Development.
Job Duties
The Department of Human Development and Family Science at East Carolina University seeks a candidate for a twelve-month position as an Administrative Assistant.

Job duties of this position include:

Initiating personnel paperwork for the Department of Human Development and Family Science. Ensuring all hiring forms, including graduate assistant contracts, are correct and submitted to the appropriate office. Working with the Dean’s Executive Assistant on EHRA or SHRA matters. Maintaining departmental budgets, including state and non-state accounts, tracking expenditures for these accounts, addressing discrepancies in coding, compiling reports, and offering advice on budget matters when asked by the Chair. Processing invoices, reconciling the ProCard, and serving as a resource to faculty regarding financial matters. Serving as the primary purchasing agent in the department and facilitating purchasing and invoice processing utilizing the PORT Procurement System, Direct Payment Forms, and Contractual Services Payment Requests. Maintaining departmental files/records and proper retention of documentation by filing, archiving, and shredding documents when necessary. Using the 25 Live room scheduling system for room reservation requests when needed by faculty and others, managing 1Card access for faculty, staff, and students, using Banner to assist with registration requests, addressing any issues with the physical plant, and submitting work orders when necessary. Preparing, tracking, and managing all travel pre-approvals and reimbursements for faculty and students in the department. Organizing and overseeing the workroom and all storage areas. Serving as the first point of contact for the department, including answering the telephone, taking messages, and connecting faculty, students, and guests with needed resources. Performing other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation
None
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Preferred skills with communication, organizational, written, and time management.
Preferred computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and MVS.
Knowledge of budget preparation, personnel, and organizing travel arrangements. Knowledge of Banner, PeopleAdmin, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
