Dr. Kerrie Sendall in the Department of Biology, Behavioral Neuroscience, and Health Sciences at Rider University is looking for a full-time field and laboratory research technician. The individual will join an NSF-funded collaborative project with the Boreal Forest Warming at an Ecotone in Danger (B4WarmED) project with the University of Minnesota exploring the effects of elevated temperature and drought on mixed temperate-boreal forests. Tasks include 1) Carrying out physiology-focused experiments and collecting samples for analysis in both the field and lab, 2) Maintenance and repair of research equipment, 3) General laboratory management, ordering, and ensuring lab safety, and 4) data entry and analysis. The position will provide the opportunity to learn about experimental design and conduct experiments using a variety of physiological instruments (e.g., Li-Cor 6800). Experiments may require occasional time in the lab/field on nights or weekends.

Primary Position Responsibilities
Carrying out experiments in the lab and field (50%)
Training/assisting undergraduate students (20%)
Data entry and analysis (20%)
Maintenance of lab and field equipment (5%)
Lab management (5%)


Position Requirements

B.S. or B.A. in Biology, Environmental Sciences, or a related scientific field.
Demonstrated prior experience working in a biology laboratory setting.
Demonstrated self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and with a team.
Demonstrated data recording and attention to detail.

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Previous research experience in plant physiology, ecology, or related areas is preferred.
Experience with physiological research instruments (e.g., Li-Cor 6400 or 6800).
