The Director of Recruitment will lead the development, implementation, and administration of the recruitment department that meet the strategic goals of the College of Professional and Continuing Studies (PACS), OU Online and The University of Oklahoma, focusing on online undergraduate and graduate students. Collaborating with OU Online and PACS admission, advising and marketing communication directors, the Director will work to ensure a personalized and seamless approach to recruitment, admission, and enrollment for all new students. The Director of Recruitment will also work closely with college executive leadership to integrate efforts ensuring an effective, inclusive college-wide approach to recruiting online learners. This college leadership position is responsible for the hiring, orienting, training, and supervising of 3+ recruitment staff.

 

Primary Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of an aggressive and comprehensive strategic recruitment plan that is data-driven, designed to locate, attract, and retain qualified online students. The director will report to the Dean of PACS and work closely with OU Online leadership, the PACS executive team, PACS Student Success division directors, PACS programs’ lead faculty and other Norman-campus leadership to develop and implement strategies driven by institutional priorities and provide leadership in fulfilling the college's recruitment, retention, and diversity goals.
  • Expanding the college’s capacity to recruit diverse and under-represented student populations, by adjusting recruitment strategies with an equity lens, investigating appropriate forums for engaging communities that represent those populations, and adjusting prospect-to-enrollment services to support in ways that are culturally appropriate.
  • Monitoring and analyzing enrollment and regional workforce data to identify target populations for recruitment and provides flexible, rapid response to emerging opportunities; evaluates and reports on trends and developments across priority and emerging markets to inform the College’s recruitment strategy. As needed, collaborating on hosting special events focused on strengthening partnerships and visibility with community colleges, employers, and other community organizations to increase PACS enrollment.
  • Overseeing the process of turning prospective students into admitted PACS students, utilizing the student recruitment Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and associated communication systems to maximize effective outreach to prospective students.
  • Advising the college on student recruitment systems and technologies to improve recruitment and enrollment management efforts.
  • Implement best in class systems for most efficient and effective recruitment strategy
  • Leading the implementation and operations of CRM software updates or changes.
  • Responsible for the general administration of the recruitment department and supervision of recruitment staff. Provide direction in hiring and retention practices, performance management, review of professional development plans, work area plans, and progress reports in accordance with university policies.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of departmental inclusion and diversity objectives.
  •  Advising students regarding educational opportunities and options, admission and other requirements, policies and procedures, transfer of credit, and financial assistance as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with PACS and OU Online college marketing, advising, and financial aid directors to develop integrated student recruitment plans including, but not limited to in-person visit to CRM communication plans.
  • Informing the communication plan for prospective, admitted, and deposited transfer students. Ensures that the plan is implemented efficiently and effectively through the CRM, that the messaging is accurate and up to date, supporting the enrollment goals of Pacs and OU Online,
  • Meeting with university admissions and recruitment departments as necessary
  • Participating in state and regional professional organizations.
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring student recruitment budget and evaluates events and campaigns, ensuring compliance with applicable fiscal restraints; implements and allocates resources following budget approval; approves expenditures.
  • Collecting and analyzing a variety of complex data and information. Prepares recurring management reports regarding recruitment and performs statistical analysis and summarizes findings in enrollment and other applicable reports to revise recruitment plans. Presents prospective student trends, recruitment data and information, and recruitment strategic plan activity to multiple stakeholders.
  • Overseeing assessment and program evaluation efforts for recruitment staff ensuring that the short- and long-term plans are consistent with the University's planning efforts and meet the needs of students.
  • Developing, recommending, administering, implementing and evaluating as needed, university policies, procedures, and practices for institutional effectiveness and compliance with federal, state, and system regulations, directives, and guidelines
  • Interpreting policies of University, State Regents, and federal agencies as they relate to admissions and recruitment and advises of needs and changes.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends is required. Regional and domestic travel expected.

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND: 

  • 60 months experience that includes leadership and/or management in student records, registration, admissions, planning and scheduling processes, systems, and technologies in a higher education environment.

Equivalency/Substitution:  Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the bachelor's degree for a total of 108 months related experience.

  • Ability to travel seasonally and work some weekends during peak periods

Certifications:

  • Valid Oklahoma Driver License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time doing work on a computer and via the telephone.
  • Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
  • Standard Office Environment. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. May be required to travel. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Requires contact with other departments and university officials.
