The Instructional Technologist will support development and delivery of online courses across degree programs for students, professional learning experiences for staff and other stakeholders, and other instructional material across departments within the College of Professional and Continuing Studies (PACS). This professional will work collaboratively with subject matter experts, PACS Curriculum Services staff, and other partners to implement technologies that enhance learning on campus, online, and through hybrid means of delivery. The Instructional Technologist will develop for-credit and non-credit courses and will support faculty and staff in building and maintaining these instructional materials in the Canvas LMS.

This incumbent’s job tasks will include: ​​​​​​​

Educational Technology:   Provide staff with Learning Management System (LMS) Support: Canvas and other LMS platforms as needed; evaluate and recommend academic technology tools; work with staff to incorporate effective e-learning tools into curriculum; and develop responsive, SCORM, HTML5, and other accessible learning modules. 

Technical Support:   Provide excellent customer service through troubleshooting and assisting with technical issues related to instructional design or instructional technology; assisting with media to support educational programming; providing technical support for meetings and seminars as necessary; and developing and maintaining support documentation as needed. 

LMS and Web-Based Applications: Assist with design, development, and administration of the LMS (Canvas); script and/or source code to support applications; and web development and website maintenance as necessary. 

Instructional/eLearning Design:   Engage in instructional/e-learning design by: (1) Leveraging eLearning tools and trends to engage the remote learner; (2) Collaborating with stakeholders to employ a variety of learning methods and emerging technologies to reach learning outcomes; and (3) Publishing high-quality courses in Canvas. 

Project Management:    Manage projects and processes using fundamentals of project management 

 

 

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Instructional Technology or a related field required, AND

  • 36 months experience in higher education to include course, curriculum, and program development.  

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree for a total of 84 months related experience.

    • Canvas, Articulate, or similar Learning Management System
    • Ability to use instructional design processes, technology, and front-end development

Department Preferences:

  • 3 or more years of instructional design and instructional technology experience
  • Experience or training in the development of eLearning resources
  • Web development experience
  • IT support experience
  • Knowledge of different learning styles
