Job Description

Position Highlights:

The Director of Patient Access is responsible for evaluating, planning, implementing and directing patient access activities for the Patient Access Center (PAC) as well as informing optimal patient access through collaboration with Moffitt leadership, partnership with clinical practices and promotion of a patient-centric vision and culture.

 

The Ideal Candidate

Lead the development and implementation of all PAC reporting and monitoring standards and processes and establish benchmarks for best practice operational efficiency; bridge gaps between expected performance

Lead the PAC team including supervision of the PAC leadership team along with oversight of recruitment, selection, training, scheduling, recognizing, evaluation, mentoring and development activities to maintain optimal employee engagement, patient experience and operational capacity

Create a culture of teamwork, accountability and safety; ensure all applicable policies, procedures and quality assurance programs are followed

Partner with Moffitt leadership and across Moffitt teams and departments to determine how PAC can best serve Moffitt's internal and external customers

In-depth knowledge of Federal and State regulations as well as managed care contractual obligations that impact PAS functions (i.e. HIPAA, MSP, EMTALA, ABN, and service authorization timeframes, etc.)

Certified Healthcare Access Manager ("CHAM") from the National Association of Healthcare Access management or 

Certified Revenue Cycle Representative ("CRCR") From the Healthcare Financial Management Association ("HFMA") or 

Certified Healthcare Financial Professional ("CHFP") from the Healthcare Financial management Association ("HFMA")

Certified Healthcare Access Manager ("CHAM") from the National Association of Healthcare Access management

 

Responsibilities:

This includes, but is not limited to, positioning the PAC as an extension to the clinical practices to facilitate patient access through intake, scheduling, registration, financial clearance, etc.; developing, aligning and executing a patient-centric strategy for access services; innovating access solutions and performance through technology, systems and processes; and remaining dedicated and focused on a culture of teamwork, collaboration, accountability operational excellence and safety.

The Director continually challenges assumptions and standards of business to improve overall operational effectiveness and actively partners with Moffitt leadership and across Moffitt teams and departments to best serve Moffitt's internal and external customers.

The Director has a staff directly responsible for promoting and maintaining optimal patient access. The Executive Director provides leadership and oversight of key operational and financial decisions pertaining to all PAC functions. He/she informs the organization's overall access metrics and ensures key performance indicators are consistently refined, shared, measured and achieved.

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required Master's Degree in business or healthcare related field preferred

At least 10 years of experience in a revenue cycle operations and/or patient access related required, 7 years at a manger and/or director level overseeing patient access related function, (i.e. pre-registration, financial clearance, financial counseling, arrival and registration, or authorization/referral/precert management) within a progressive healthcare environment.  

Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
