The department of Enterprise Applications within Information Technology Services at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Research Business Analyst Associate.

About the Opportunity

This position serves as a liaison between the WVU Research Office and the Research IT department within WVU ITS. You will provide business process solutions and technical support to meet departmental and institutional research needs. You will work with domain experts to elicit and identify business requirements, address usability concerns, and document solutions.

As a Business Analyst on the Research IT team, you will play an integral role in the product design process and support team members throughout the project lifecycle and software development lifecycle. Under the direction of senior Business Analysis resources, you will aid in documenting both business requirements and comprehensive solutions for several projects.

What You'll Do

Plan, coordinate, and document meetings; ensure follow-up on relevant action items.
Under the direction of a supervisor, provide documentation support for requirements gathering, process analysis, gap analysis, design of new functionality, and product testing.
Participate in project walkthroughs, document business requirements, process flows, design, functional test plans and implementation sessions.
Manage written communications between stakeholders and internal business units.
Create and manage functional requirement documents for in-house development of software applications for West Virginia University Research Office.
Manage product bugs and feature enhancement requests using the Research IT team’s standard issue tracking software (JIRA).
Participate in the system development life cycle (SDLC) and carry out instructions as directed by the senior business analyst.
Work with business users, subject matter experts, and technical staff in resolving system-related issues.


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
A minimum of two (2) years of experience involving:
Basic understanding of business practices and strategies.
Experience collaborating with business units to gather requirements.
Experience supporting enterprise applications preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to details.
Great analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word and Visio.
Strong customer relationship skills.
Superior presentation and negotiation skills.
Adaptable and capable of working in fast-paced environments.
Experience with ticketing/issue tracking software preferred.
