Summary

The Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a team member to join the administrative team at the Children's Hospital of San Antonio who will be responsible for organizing data to design, create, and maintain analyses and reports and tools in support of both clinical and business operations. Performs advanced data analysis utilizing appropriate analytics methodologies and fosters data-driven decision-making by providing valuable consultative analytics support. Additionally, will conduct gap analysis of clinical divisions/departments at the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio to assess current competitive position and quality and then develop road-map for tracking and continuous quality improvement.

Job Duties

  • Connect with physician and administrative leadership to understand current workflow and quality/outcomes data collection systems and practice related to national clinical care and quality measures
  • Evaluate current and incoming electronic medical records with regards to ability to abstract quality and other data that is relevant to national certifications/recognition as well as patient safety and outcomes
  • Assist hospital CMIO with organization and support coordination of team / meetings related to EMR transition to EPIC
  • Support hospital research team in the creation and management of academic productivity database and reporting
  • Able to address and defend questions on deliverables
  • Collaborate with departmental leadership to help create and manage databases for research and quality reporting purposes
  • Develops and implements databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Interprets complex data, analyzes results using statistical techniques and provides ongoing reports in support of strategic goals
  • Identifies areas to increase efficiency and automation of both data collection and analysis processes, specifically as it applies to quality and national reporting standards
  • Oversees and coordinates the generation and distribution of actionable data reports (both recurring and ad hoc), including specifying, coding, testing, and deploying reports
  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Responsible for the identification, integration, and preparation of data
  • Understands functional areas' business requirements and translate into user-friendly reports and dashboards and data visualizations
  • Completes projects that require data collection, analysis, and presentation
  • Prepares high quality documentation that follows established guidelines
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to junior staff and trains users at various levels of data literacy
  • Constructs and provides deliverables for special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement. 
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in healthcare / research related field.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Critical thinker.
