Summary

The lab studies the molecular and neurobiological basis of behavior using the powerful genetic tools in Drosophila. The lab uses a range of transgenesis and genome editing tools and develop novel variations to manipulate gene expression, gene function and custom made mutants independent of genetic background. Research Technician II position will focus on insect transgenesis and  state-of-the-art genome editing.

Job Duties

  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents results of experiments.
  • Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Works on molecular and human genetics.
  • Performs transgenesis, molecular biology and cloning with complex iterative cloning methods.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in basic biology, genetics or neuroscience.
  • Experience in invertebrate biology and transgenesis is a plus.
