Qualifications:

MAIT 410-01 - Special Topics in Education: Critical Children's Literature

In person - Moraga, CA campus, February 6, 2023 - May 26, 2023 Monday, 4:15pm - 7:00pm

In this course, MAIT students will investigate the critical role of children's and young people’s literature in the work of social justice educators. This course provides students an intellectual space within which to examine and discuss literature for young people, promote culturally responsive teaching practices, and posit the relevance of including multiple representations of diverse individuals in the literature available to students in their classrooms. Discussions and assignments focus on analyzing the social, historical, political, and educational implications of this literature and its use in K-8 classrooms.

Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Education-related field

5 years of K-12 teaching experience

Higher education teaching experience preferred
