The Georgia Cancer Center M. Bert Storey Research Building provides quality research space to promote multidisciplinary collaborations and translational research, which is essential to creating an environment that promotes innovation. Our research approach supports important National Cancer Institute goals including ensuring every cancer patient has access to the newest and most innovative clinical trials in the nation, clinicians and researchers work together to initiate new research protocols based on the clinician's interaction with the patient, and each cancer patient receives personalized treatment through the interaction of the multidisciplinary team of clinicians and allied health professionals.
Job Summary
A training position designed to learn through engagement in a scientific technical support of research in an assigned laboratory setting. Participate in research data collection and documentation with relevant guidelines and protocols. To provide research support to work being undertaken by postdoctoral fellow, Assistant Research Scientist within the research group. Perform a variety of complex biological, microscopic, histologic, flow cytometry, surgical, statistical and dissection procedures. To contribute to research publications and presentations as required. Work with laboratory animals (mice) is essential.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:

Lab Supplies: Take inventory of lab supply; Order research supplies; Stock lab supplies in the lab space and cell culture room; Autoclave instruments, lab supplies for cell culture.

Experiments: Perform molecular biology experiments, including PCR, cloning, western blot, and immunohistochemistry; Perform flow cytometry, ELISA, cell culture, transfection, histologic procedures; Plasmid preparation, lentiviral vector production.

Mice: Setup mouse breeding cages, wean, take inventory of breeding mice; Mouse genotype, dissection procedures; Mouse transfer.

Other: Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Grade: R9

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
