The Department of Academic Advisement promotes the mission of Augusta University through collaboration with all colleges and student success departments to provide high quality life-long learning opportunities through the academic advisement process. We are committed to ensuring student success by guiding and advising students through direct and intentional academic planning to allow students to make informed decisions to navigate their educational journey to obtain their career goals and aspirations.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:

General Responsibilities
Provide mentoring and advisement for a cohort of first and second year students to assist in goal setting, academic planning and career exploration through personal follow up/outreach, individual appointments and programming.

Compliance with Patient/Family Centered Care Standards
Demonstrates dignity and respect for patient and family for patient and family knowledge, values, beliefs, and cultural background in the planning and delivery of care.
Provides information sharing, ensuring patients and families receive timely, complete, and accurate information in order to effectively participate in care and decision-making.
Encourages patient and family participation in care and decision-making at the level they choose.
Promotes collaboration with patients and families in policy and program development,
implementation, and evaluation in health care facility design, professional education, and delivery of care.

Advising
Establish a developmental advising relationship with students per NACADA/CA standards and the goals of the department:
Communicate regularly with students regarding academic progress, major selection, and other standard advisement procedures.
Create, edit, and distribute appropriate communications regarding target initiatives.
Provide students with documentation to re-cap and remind them of items discussed.
Serve as a key worker with special target populations/initiatives.

Representation & Promoting
Professionally represent and promote the department through involvement in campus wide programming, presentation, committees, events and departmental marketing initiatives:
Manage rapport with academic departments and enrollment management areas to keep abreast of policies and programs to ensure accuracy in the dissemination of information to students and to team members.
Develop programs with Academic Advisement and collaborative areas.
Serve as a key worker for programs/systems as requested.
Assist in training of advisors and student employees in departmental initiatives.

Records Maintenance
Update and maintain detailed records and reporting of student's progress using office tools and university database.
Assist in assessment of programs, services, and tools regularly to track progress towards
department/division goals and coordinate initiatives with advisor team members.
Demonstrate knowledge and competency in Academic Advisement Center procedures, policies and technology systems.
Serve as a key worker for programs/special projects

Training
Continually improve academic advising skills and practices through the ongoing use of training tools,
professional associations, and engagement in researching best practices

Teamwork
Function cooperatively within a team format. Ability to establish productive relationships with constituency served, coworkers, others and deliver services in varied environment.
Regularly contribute to the development of the Academic Advisement Center.
Provide cooperative support for all departmental programming to meet goals.
Maintain a positive work environment coordinating schedule with other staff, communicating
Regularly with staff regarding projects, providing and soliciting assistance as needed.
Manage time effectively to maximize service to students and to fulfill departmental goals.

Other duties
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years' relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Strong time-management, multi-tasking and organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently and in a team environment
Knowledge of advisement theories and practices to help students achieve success
Ability to make sound judgements and identify solutions, demonstrate consistent use of proper English, grammar and punctuation, develop and maintain professional relationships, meet deadlines and work in a fast environment

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-f

Pay Grade: 13

Salary: Minimum $16.19/hour - $19.65/hour

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
