The Department of Art and Design at Augusta University seeks outstanding applicants for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Animation. This position will teach two studio courses per semester while sustaining a practice of creative scholarship. The position also will require participation in departmental service and maintaining professional relationships. The successful hire will contribute to the newly launched and quickly growing BFA track in Animation and teach some foundational-level art courses. This position requires proficiency in drawing skills as well as tools related to 2D animation, including Toon Boom Harmony, Storyboard Pro, and the Adobe Creative Cloud.

This is a tenure-track faculty position (9-month contract) with duties to begin in August 2023. Responsibilities
A successful candidate is expected to teach two studio courses per semester related to foundation level and animation program courses. These will include courses within the BFA and BA concentrations developing skill sets as drawing, two-dimensional design, color theory and animation. Maintain an active role developing/enhancing departmental curricula and programs while demonstrating leadership in student mentoring and advising. Potential courses to be taught include 2D Animation, Previsualization, Motion Graphics, Short Format Storytelling, Animation History & Fundamentals, and Art Foundation courses. Responsible for creative research scholarship and professional growth, having regional and greater reach.

All full-time tenure track is expected to give service to the department, college and university by participating actively, regularly and equitably on committees and serving the departmental needs.

Required Qualifications
MFA or its equivalent terminal degree in the appropriate discipline or its equivalent in training, ability, or experience.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

Evidence of ability as a teacher;

Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching animation courses and professional experience in animation.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.

Salary range for academic year is $65,000-$70,000.
