The Department of Physical Therapy at Augusta University (formerly known as Medical College of Georgia) in Augusta, Georgia invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure, 12-month position as a core faculty member of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Our program boasts a long history of excellence and a large network of strong clinical relationships. The selected candidate must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, be proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases, and maintain confidentiality.

    Required Qualifications
    The selected candidate will have a terminal academic degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., DSc) in physical therapy or in a related field. Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of clinical/professional experience and must be eligible for physical therapy licensure in Georgia. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations and the ability to work in a collaborative, problem-solving manner are required.

    Assistant Professor- early-level career as a faculty member 0-4 years' experience is related field.
    Associate Professor- mid-level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

    Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements)
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data and recommendations.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Board certification by ABPTS in area of orthopedic physical therapy
  • Candidates with manual therapy skills are preferred.

    Shift/Salary/Benefits
    This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
    The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

    Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

    Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
