40 hours per week

Base rate - $30 per hour if not RN - $41.50 if RN

Under general direction of the Regional Manager and the Statewide Director of Operations, directs/supervises nursing services at the DJJ YDCs and RYDCs; assists in planning and directing activities to provide optimal care. Directs assignments/activities of professional nursing personnel and conducts performance evaluations. Responsible for procurement of nursing supplies and related equipment. Evaluates patient care, unit conditions, and equipment in use. Directs CQI programs as they relate to patient care in the facility.

Responsibilities
Performs manager job responsibilities - 50
Performs manager job responsibilities with minimal supervision. Consistently directs and advises staff members regarding patient care, work performance, problem solving and decision making. Demonstrates good managerial and clinical judgement in assigning duties appropriate to each individual. Demonstrates good judgement in the routine anticipation of staffing needs and makes the necessary arrangements for departmental coverage.

Serves as job expert or organization resource - 20
Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas. Continuously and thoroughly plans, organizes, coordinates, monitors and evaluates patient care in the institution.
Ensures that the care plans for each patient adhere to applicable policies and procedures.
Regularly monitors work of assigned staff to ensure that all treatments, medications and diagnostic tests ordered by the physician are expeditiously carried out and properly recorded.

Supervise support staff or employees - 20
Supervise support staff or employees. Defines goals and/or required results at beginning of performance period and gains acceptance of ideas by creating a shared vision. Communicates regularly with staff on progress toward defined goals and/or required results; providing specific feedback and initiating corrective action when defined goals and/or results are not met. Confers regularly with staff to review employee relations climate, specific problem areas and actions necessary for improvement. Evaluates employees at scheduled intervals, obtains and considers all relevant information in evaluations and supports staff by giving praise and constructive criticism.

Maintains accurate, detailed reports - 10
Maintains accurate, detailed reports and client records.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Associates or Bachelors Degree in Nursing with 3 years of previous management or supervisory experience in administration or a clinical setting. Prefer 1 year of experience in a correctional setting.
OR
Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Service Administration, Business Administration or similar with 3 years of previous management or supervisory experience in administration or a clinical setting. Prefer 1 year of experience in a correctional setting.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Previous Correctional Experience. 2 or more years previous experience in a clinical setting.
