Job Summary
This position directs the daily operations of the department in partnership with the Department Chair and provides high-level support to administration and faculty by planning, organizing, and managing the resources of the department.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the department in collaboration with the Department Chair. Performs critical assessment of office operations to ensure efficiency. Establishes priorities and acts proactively in developing new ideas and procedures for improvements. Maintains high-level knowledge of all aspects of the department. Communicate effectively with the outside public. Provides and ensures resource support for Department Chair and Departmental Faculty to enable focus on the critical missions of research, teaching, and scholarship. Assesses the priority of incoming communication and directs to the appropriate personnel. Serves as the department's approver for bi-weekly and monthly time and absence in OneUSG. Works in conjunction with the Department Chair on all matters related to faculty recruitment. Collaborates with the Business Office within the College to prepare the appropriate paperwork and secure institutional and College approvals as needed. Orients new faculty. Assists Department Chair with the teaching assignment system and communications to faculty. Partners with the Department Chair and Financial Services within the College to assess financial needs critical to successful operation of the department. Designs departmental system for the efficient preparation of documents needed for departmental purchases. Plans and coordinates departmental programs, colloquia, projects, and special events. Prepares materials for presentations at seminars, conferences, and meetings. Participates as a department representative as needed. Acts as a knowledgeable resource regarding developments in campus and departmental procedures. Communicates pertinent information to faculty and Department Chair to ensure adherence to current procedures and requirements of the department and the institution. Maintains Department Chair's calendar, schedules meetings, makes travel arrangements, prepares travel requests and expense statements for department faculty, and other forms incidental to these responsibilities. Other duties as assigned to include assignments, projects, and events.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with three years of progressive office experience, including supervisory experience. OR Associate degree from an accredited college or university with six years of progressive office experience, including supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Prior OneUSG Connect experience. Prior experience in Higher Education or Health Sciences environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Detail-oriented with strong time management, critical thinking, and professionalism skills. Ability to work in a fast-faced environment, multi-task, maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgement, and work independently.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days Mon-Fri.
Pay Grade: 12
Salary Minimum: $15.05- $19.58 hourly.
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
