Job Summary
The individual who works in this position must have a Ph.D. or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience in Molecular Biology, Next Generation technologies, and data analysis skills. The Integrated Genomics facility has 3 different sequencers, Illumina Hiseq2500, Miseq, and NextSeq500. An in-depth knowledge of sample preparation for each of these platforms is highly required. The integrated Genomics facility runs sequencing for the entire Augusta University campus and other institutes in the State of Georgia. The director of this Core must be able to understand individual researcher's projects and advise them about the best approach to achieve optimal results for specific experiments. It also requires an in-depth knowledge of whole genome sequence, targeted resequence, exome sequence, transcriptome sequence, miRNA-seq, methylation sequence, and ChIP-seq for each of these 3 sequencing platformes. We have offered single-cell sequencing since September 2019. This application requires a decent cell biology/molecular biology knowledge in addition to Next Generation technologies. Also the job requires ability of data analysis from these different types of experiments on these different platforms.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:

Perform variety of molecular genetics techniques - 30%
Perform variety of molecular genetics techniques including DNA/RNA isolation, quality control analysis

Conduct sequencing library preparations for next-generation - 50%
Conduct sequencing library preparations for next-generation sequencing at both of bulk and single cell levels

Perform data analysis using Partek, Transcriptome Analysis - 10%
Perform data analysis using Partek, Transcriptome Analysis Console, GSEA, DAVID, Linux Command Line, etc.

Other related duties as assigned - 10%

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Ph.D. from an accredited college or university with a minimum of one year directly applicable experience; previous supervisory experience. OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of five years' progressive grant management, resources management and quality assurance program development experience; or major coursework completed on a Ph.D. in a related scientific field with two years of progressive grant management, resources management and quality assurance program development experience. OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of eight years' progressive grant management, resources management and quality assurance program development experience.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Grade - R16

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
