This position, under general supervision of the Manager, MCG Technology Services, serves as principal advisor and point of contact to Augusta University faculty for support of enterprise instructional technology systems (including ExamSoft and NBME), communications and collaboration tools (video conferencing and WebEx), learning asset management, digital media, and web/mobile enabled instructional technologies. Assists with functional administration, coordination of system updates, evaluating, testing, and planning software releases/upgrades, analysis and resolution of the functional problems, research and development of new learning technology systems, and functional training

Responsibilities
The job duties include but are not limited to:

PROVIDES FUNCTIONAL & TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Provides at-the-elbow functional and technical support of all instructional systems utilized at AU's primary campus and at regional sites throughout Georgia. Is the primary expert of the audiovisual, video and web conferencing, lecture capture and related technologies used by the faculty, staff, and students. Coordinates technology needs and support at regional sites with local IT providers, vendors, and the appropriate teams within AU IT.

COORDINATES & STAFFS THE SUPPORT: Coordinates and staffs the support required for administration of online high stakes computer examinations such as the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME). Serves as the official Technical Support Coordinator for NBME based exams and is responsible for assuring that all computers used for test administration can deliver the exam securely and successfully. These actions include setting up the Chief Proctor's computer, running exam compatibility checks, resolving identified issues on student owned computers, administering checkout of loaner laptops and assuring network architecture is fully tested and adequate for test administration. This position is the primary technical expert on the NBME and high stakes exams at AU.

ASSISTS WITH FACULTY, STAFF, & STUDENTS: Assists with faculty, staff, and student technology support needs by providing problem identification and resolution on both functional and technical issues by consulting with programmers, database administrators, systems administrators as required; participating in user group meetings; identifying training and workshop topics and acting as a key technology services liaison with AU.

COORDINATE & MANAGE SOFTWARE: Coordinate and manage implementation of software releases/revisions, functional training, and assist in testing and evaluating new releases. Coordination of test plans and computer image development.
PROVIDES ORIENTATION & TRAINING: Provides orientation and training for faculty, staff, and students by designing, developing, and delivering workshops, seminars, faculty development sessions, student training, and customized documentation

IDENTIFIES OPPORTUNITIES: Identify technology opportunities, trends, and strategies for collaboration to advance educational delivery for AU. Applies instructional standards, methodologies and principals to collegiate specific needs, objectives and outcomes
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned including duties listed above at times outside of the normal duty hours and days as needed.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related IT field of study, along with three years of experience in a relevant field of work, to include two years of experience in using a system in a relevant function area, or an Associate's degree in a related IT field of study, along with six years of experience in a relevant field of work, to include two years of experience in using a system in a relevant function area, or a High school diploma/GED, along with nine years of experience in a relevant field of work, to include two years of experience in using a system in a relevant function area -Strong background in academic technologies including an enterprise learning management system, to include experience in using an information system in the fulfillment of job responsibilities.Must have a valid state driver's license to operate AU vehicles

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Instructional/Educational Technology, Information Technology or related field, experience in a higher education environment, and teaching and/or training experience is preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
  • Skill in dealing with a variety of personalities while working to accomplish detailed and technical tasks.
  • Experience assisting users with troubleshooting information system applications.
    Typing speed of 45 wpm or more.
  • Skill in training and teaching others and the ability to speak in front of an audience effectively with an engaging style

    Shift/Salary/Benefits
    Shift Days-M/F, *Work outside of the normal business hours may be required.*
    Pay Grade: 18

    Salary: Minimum $48,341.00/annually - $56,284.97/annually
    Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
