Job Summary
The Director of Institutional Analytics promotes a culture of data informed decision making through the collaboration, development and communication of decision support solutions that will drive strategic growth and optimize organizational efficiency for Augusta University. This position is responsible for managing the analytics road map through collaboration with academic and administrative partners based on priorities and initiatives of the university. The individual leads a team of analytics professionals within the Division of Institutional Effectiveness as well as mentors analytical staff across the institution to create a culture of data analytics at AU. This position collaborates with Data Trustees and Stewards, Information Technology, and analysts across the institution to respond to stakeholders' demand for robust and comprehensive analytics to support timely and informed decisions.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:

Manage Institutional Analytics function for Augusta University

  • Coordinates and prioritizes an analytics road map to serve the needs of leadership and other internal stakeholders that aligns with institutional strategic priorities
  • Develops and maintains decision support solutions to include managing project timelines, work breakdown structures and resources
  • Promotes the democratization of data to improve and expand decision support capabilities across all data domains in accordance with institutional data governance
  • Advises and consults other analytics professionals as well as manages resources for a growing community of practitioners at AU

    Manage IE analytics team, resources and tools

  • Provides leadership to the analytics team in the Division of Institutional Effectiveness by setting goals and priorities, resolving analytical and creative challenges, and providing mentorship to develop professionals in an emerging discipline
  • Effectively manages teamwork load and ensures knowledge sharing and cross-training of team membership to ensure continuity of analytical services

    Professional Outreach and Development

  • Maintains awareness of current data sources and technical innovations within the data analytics and business intelligence fields focused on higher education
  • Maintains membership and participation in data and analytics groups specific to higher education (AIR, HEDW, TDWI, Tableau Higher Ed User Group)
  • Assists in improving reporting and analytical tools and techniques in the fields of Institutional Research and Business Intelligence & Analytics

    Required Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five years of related experience.

    Preferred Qualifications
    The preferred candidate should have a background in data analytics, reporting, and enterprise systems. Experience managing a team of analysts. Experience and knowledge in higher education institutions. Knowledge and experience of data architecture, business intelligence, and data science. Experience in or knowledge of business process improvement methodology. Strong project planning and management skills.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of data analytics concepts, techniques, processes and applications.
  • Knowledge and experience of data architecture, business intelligence, and data science.
  • Knowledge of higher education institutions and experience with enterprise data in a university context.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills, including excellent planning, organizational and operational proficiency.
  • Demonstrate ability to solve problems using creativity and innovation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to cultivate professional and business partnerships.
  • Excellent writing skills and abilities to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project planning and management skills.
  • Experience in or knowledge of business process improvement methodology.
  • Ability to act independently and as part of a team. A willingness to be flexible and adapt to different stakeholder needs and organizational cultures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

    Shift/Salary/Benefits
    Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

    Pay Grade: 24
    Salary: $74,604.00/Annually - $100,000.00/Annually

    Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
