Job Summary
Under general supervision, the AV Technologist will set up and operate a variety of instructional technologies, video conferencing and AV equipment collaborating with faculty and staff with an emphasis on excellent customer service. This person will provide clear, concise and diplomatic communications to resolve issues on all aspects of rich media presentations and will work as an integral part of the instructional support team to support collaborative learning and presentations for a wide range of pedagogical and special event activities.

Responsibilities
The job duties include, but are not limited to:

SETS UP, TESTS,& FACILITATES USE OF AUDIO/VISUAL TECHNOLOGY: Sets up, tests, and facilitates the use of audio/visual systems, distance learning systems, lecture capture systems, teleconferencing systems, computers, software, and related technology to support classroom teaching, meetings, and special events; Provides assistance and technical support to presenters to ensure successful presentations and use of audio/visual systems

CONDUCTS PERIODIC INSPECTIONS OF AUDIO/VISUAL EQUIPMENT: Conducts periodic inspections of audio/visual equipment and classroom technologies to proactively identify potential issues and minimize risks to the client's effective use of audio/visual systems, distance learning systems, teleconferencing systems, and related technologies

MONITORS & SUPPORTS LIVE DELIVERY: Monitors and supports live delivery of instruction and special events utilizing teleconferencing, live-streaming, and distance learning technologies

DIAGNOSE & RESOLVE ISSUES: Diagnoses and resolves hardware and software issues

PARTICIPATES IN RECOMMENDATIONS: Participates in the recommendation and development of reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions

INVENTORY: Maintains the inventory of audio/visual systems and checkout equipment

COORDINATION: Coordinates with other IT Teams to resolve escalated technical and functional issues

TRAINING & MENTORING: Trains and mentors new AV student workers and new FT AV staff
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 2 years of related experience; Valid driver's license and qualified to operate Augusta University vehicles or an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of related experience; Valid driver's license and qualified to operate Augusta University vehicles or a High school, diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization with six years related experience; Valid driver's license and qualified to operate Augusta University vehicles

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in IT, Computer Repair, Electronics, Audio-Visual, Engineering or related area; InfoComm-Recognized AV Technologist Certificate

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
General computer knowledge of hardware and software issues
Knowledge of network connectivity and networking protocols such as TCP/IP and H.263/H264 (configuration/troubleshooting devices)
Knowledge of and experience troubleshooting, video/audio conferencing, presentation and sound systems, and related AV hardware found in classrooms, conference rooms, and event setting

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Experience with Windows and Macintosh hardware and software support
Self-motivated, detail-oriented with strong customer service and organizational skills

ABILITIES
Ability to work independently following established policies and procedures
Ability to maintain confidentiality, read and understand technical manuals, documentation, and schematics
Ability to conduct research into hardware and software troubleshooting and prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days / M-F
Pay Grade 13
Salary Minimum $16.19/hourly- $19.59/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
