Job Summary
The Systems Engineer 1 serves as an individual contributor in an information technology role, providing system implementation, support, monitoring and maintenance of applications and services.The Systems Engineer must possess an ability to apply an interdisciplinary approach to ensure technical needs are translated into step-by-step processes—in effect, producing efficient and effective results. A systems engineer will often collaborate with a project manager and the engineering team and take the lead to translate between the two to facilitate the achievement of a successful system being placed into operations. The systems engineer will also work throughout each stage of the given system or process, from design and development to validation and operation, onto quantitative risk assessment, often focusing on performance, testing, scheduling, and costs. The Systems Engineer will be in near constant communication with other engineering staff, project managers, the Senior Systems Engineer and other project or operational stakeholders.This staff member will carry-out her/his duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acting in the best interest of the organization, and fully supporting the mission, vision, and values of Augusta University.

Responsibilities
The job duties include, but are not limited to:

DAILY OPERATIONS: Perform daily system operations tasks to verify system integrity and availability.

MONITORING APPLICATIONS:This is to include monitoring applications and servers, and responding to alarms in a timely manner, preventing client impact and performance degradation.

PERFORMANCE TUNING: Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware/OS upgrades, and resource optimization

DEPLOY, SETUP, & MAINTAIN: Deploy, setup, and maintain complex testing environments (physical servers as well as virtual servers).

MANAGE CHANGES: Manage changes and project activities and communicate with impacted stakeholders

PROVIDE SUPPORT: Provide Tier III and other support per service request.

OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of two years applicable experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Windows Server and/or Red Hat Linux is a plus
Experience with Office 365 is a plus
Proficient in university and enterprise information technology and service delivery.
Communication skills are needed to interact with team members, strategic partners and clients.
Confident style which reflects emotional intelligence and a hands-on approach

In-depth knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/ M-F (Work outside of normal buisness hours may be required)
Pay Grade: 18
Salary Minimum $48,341/Annually- Midpoint $65,260/ Annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
