Supporting and coordinating assigned print and web projects-includes researching, planning, implementing, and maintaining all print and web design activities and coordinating with appropriate managers.

Duties include: 
  • Formulates design concepts, presentations, and key-art concepts for each issue of World Literature Today magazine by reading stories, research illustration ideas, select/create illustrations for stories, design and layout interior, cover, and insert for the magazine.
  • Performs graphic design of professional marketing materials including logos, brochures, newsletters, flyers, posters, annual reports, and web design.
  • Designs digital assets, to include but not limited to email blasts, web promotions, and social media templates.
  • Designs advertisements, print materials, and promotional materials, including Neustadt Lit Festival and the Puterbaugh Lit Festival event materials.
  • Supervises student projects including the Neustadt Lit Fest poster design contest and 1-2 interns each fall as part of the Magazine Publishing class. 
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Art, Fine Arts, Marketing, or related field, AND: 

  •  12 months of Graphic Arts or Desktop Publishing experience.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the bachelor's degree for a total of 60 months related experience. 

Skills:

  • Advanced computer skills with wide knowledge of design software
  • Proficient in graphic design using Adobe CC
  • Proficient in preparing graphics for both print and online implementation
  • Proficient in advertising design and knowledgeable about marketing principles
  • Preferred video or audio editing skills

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to engage in repetitive motion and communicate effectively
  • Ability to uphold the stress of fast-paced environment
  • Contact with other departments and University officials
  • Light to moderate lifting is required
  • May be required to operate University vehicles during events, including large passenger vans

Departmental Preferences:

  • 24-48 months of website development with direct digital marketing experience 
  • Experience with publishing
  • Use of computer and other graphic design tools
  • Interest in reading, literature (or literary studies), and culture
  • Proficient in web development and content management on Drupal and WordPress CMS platforms
  • Proficient in video and audio editing using Adobe CC Premiere Pro and Audition or other editing software
