In collaboration with the Director of Communication Strategy & Insights this position supports the Office of Admissions by designing, troubleshooting, and creating new email templates, landing pages and other digital assets to meet recruiting initiatives and the university’s overall enrollment goals.

Ball State University welcomes applications for a Digital Communications Designer within the division of Enrollment Planning and Management in the Office of Admissions.

Job Function:

In collaboration with the Director of Communication Strategy & Insights this position supports the Office of Admissions by designing, troubleshooting, and creating new email templates, landing pages and other digital assets to meet recruiting initiatives and the university’s overall enrollment goals.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in communications, marketing, digital design, graphic design, computer science or related field.

Preferred Education:

Master’s degree in communications, marketing, digital design, graphic design, or computer science.

Minimum Experience:

Demonstrated experience in writing HTML and CSS page layouts (manual coding, not WYSIWYG), as well as Adobe Creative Cloud; at least one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Experience:

Expert understanding of HTML/CSS email templates and websites; strong knowledge of CRM, experience with the Admissions CRM (Slate) solution utilized at Ball State University a plus; knowledge of university admissions; understanding of Liquid markup and A/B testing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, test, and deploy email and SMS campaigns to increase inquiries, application conversions, and strengthen university affinity.
  • Collaborate with Communications and CRM team to design and manage Admissions website and portal pages, while also working strategically with Admissions teams to ensure a cohesive look and voice.

  • Contribute to new design ideas and solutions as well as best practices and standards for digital communication.

  • In tandem with CRM team, build recipient lists and create data consistencies within digital content.
  • Adhere to university brand guidelines.


  • Perform other related duties as assigned including working a flexible schedule.
