Job Description

The Executive Director will have a central role in advancing innovation and digital transformation initiatives across the college and will provide strategic and operational leadership to enable the IT organization to become a leader in higher education.

The Executive Director will be tasked with fully evaluating the existing environment and assisting in the development of an overall vision with an emphasis on service excellence and operational effectiveness that is aligned with the mission and priorities of the college. This person will be a collaborative partner who is service-oriented and can build trust, credibility, and consensus with constituents across the College. They will have the ability to build strong relationships, communicate proactively and understand the diverse needs of stakeholder groups.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Education, or related field from a regionally accredited College/University; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five years or more experience in managing technology programs and projects and leading diverse teams in an academic setting.

  • Three years’ experience in managing a large, diverse team of technical managerial/supervisory, professional, and support staff.

  • Five years of IT industry or equivalent technical experience (e.g., engineering, software development, networking, etc.)

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and levels of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited College/University.

  • Program or Project management licenses or certifications.

  • Seven years or more experience in managing technology programs and projects and leading diverse teams in an academic setting.

  • Knowledge of higher education business practices and procedures.

  • Knowledge of current developments and trends in higher ed best practices, project management, and related technology.

  • 10 years of demonstrated, progressively responsible experience in the leadership and implementation of information technology and/or operational efficiencies at higher educational institutions.

The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Strong supervisory, project management, administrative, budget management, and technical skills.

  • Strong strategic and operational planning skills. The ability to anticipate problems and proactively engage appropriate stakeholders to implement customer-centered solutions.

  • Strong understanding of the technology landscape and industry acumen is necessary to effectively analyze business requirements, workflows, and best practices in collaboration with all technical and functional teams, including internal CSN employees and external implementation vendors.

  • Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize and execute tasks in a high-paced environment.

  • Experience managing multiple technical projects with a high degree of detail while working with short deadlines or with little/no disruption to the college.

  • Competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development conferences, and attending training and/or courses.

  • Ability to manage IT resource requirements and capacity to ensure an appropriate balance to support tactical and strategic demands.

  • Ability to partner with cyber security leadership and IT senior leadership in the development, implementation, and management of IT's controls, policies, and practices, and processes to protect the organization's IT assets and the integrity, security, and privacy of information.

  • Identify risks and guide the deployment of best practices through all operational areas.

  • Knowledge of higher education business practices and procedures and an in-depth understanding of current and emerging information technologies is required.

  • The ability to work with a variety of constituencies possessing a wide range of technical knowledge.

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.

  • Effective interpersonal, customer service, organizational, and team-building skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and levels of experience.

  • Skilled in the use of computers and applications.

Starting Salary Range

Administrative Faculty E

The minimum starting salary is $123,474.00 The successful candidate may be placed above the minimum of the range based on education and experience.
