Summary

Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Immunology, Allergy and Retrovirology Division and the William T. Shearer Center for Human Immunobiology at Texas Children’s Hospital is seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and organized individual to join as a Research Coordinator II.

The Allergy and Immunology Division specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of complex Primary immune deficiency diseases (PIDD) and primary immune regulatory diseases (PIRD), which are rare, genetic disorders that impair the immune system in addition to secondary immune mediated disease as a result of bone marrow transplant or solid organ transplant. The service maintains vibrant clinical and basic scientific research programs . The coordinator will recruit patients and their families into several prospective and retrospective protocols related to PIDD, PIRD or transplant.

The selected candidate will coordinates day to day activities of research protocols which include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants. May mentor and train research staff. Interview, screen and recruit patients for study. Explains process and procedures to educate participant regarding the research study.

Job Duties

• Collects patient information. Process, document and enter information into a database.
• Performa Venipuncture (blood draws), and obtain vital signs on study participants.
• Collects, processes, ships, and maintains paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol.
• Maintains records and regulatory documents and records for research studies.
• Schedules research participant for tests and procedures, such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and other studies specific for the research protocol.
• Retrieves and submits test results to appropriate party.
• Corresponds with patient throughout study.
• Orders supplies and equipment.
• Conducts all testing procedures required by study protocol.
• Evaluates and analyzes clinical research data to include RedCap database development and data entry.
• Prepares documentation necessary to obtain initial and continued approval for the specific research protocol.
• Performs literature searches and prepares literature reviews. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
• One year of relevant experience.
