Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic and experienced researcher in applied robotic systems?  Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge as part of a world class robotics team?  Do you want to design and create robotic systems that will change our lives?

As a key member of the Real Robotics lab, you will lead on the development of new aerial robotic platforms, systems and software deployed in real world scenarios.

The Real Robotics lab has over £3m of current research projects. Our research includes robotic systems to inspect and repair cities infrastructure, design and manufacturing of robots, including world class robot fabrication facilities. Current major externally funded projects include PipebotsTrustworthy autonomous systems node in Verification, and the recently awarded ‘strength in places’ funding linked with the Advanced Machinery and Productivity Institute (the AMP Institute).  

In this role you will take a leadership role in the design and implementation of Robots and Drones for advanced robotic systems for practical demonstrators. As well as supporting project partners with software and hardware design, you will conduct pioneering work on innovative systems integration for robotics, and autonomous control strategies.  

Holding both a PhD (or have submitted your thesis before taking up the role) and a Bachelors or Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics, or a related discipline; you will have experience in the design, construction and testing of advanced hardware platforms for robotics ideally including aerial platforms.
