Job Description

Summary

Baylor College of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics, Psychology Division, has an immediate opening for a full-time Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA). 

This position is based in the Autism Program at Texas Children’s Hospital, and the patient population is primarily children suspected of having or previously diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. Primary responsibilities include administering and scoring neuropsychological and behavioral measures, preparing a table of scores from neuropsychological and behavioral testing, and writing behavioral observations. 

 

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, superior attention to detail; and the ability to establish and maintain effective contact with patients during administration of tests. Applicants with bilingual assessment skills in Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.

Job Duties

Ancillary activities:

  • Scores psychological, neuropsychological, and developmental tests from patient appointments. 
  • Presents findings of evaluations at meeting with fellow clinical staff and faculty. Documenting as appropriate in Epic.

Testing appointment setup:

  • Responsible for coordinating testing inventory and common spaces, as well as ensuring proper COVID-19 procedures are being followed. 

Research and clinical activity:

  • Responsible for clinical activity and potential for some research activity involving children ranging in age from infancy through young adult. The patient population will focus on autism spectrum disorders.

Conference participation:

  • Participates in parent conferences regarding results of psychological/developmental evaluations.

Training:

  • Works directly with Psychology clinical providers to understand the testing process associated to various measures and protocols. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling or related field.
  • No experience required. 
  • Licensure as a Psychological Associate by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual assessment skills in English/Spanish.
  • Prior experience working with populations with autism, and prior training on and experience administering the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS).
