Summary

The Program Coordinator to the Baylor College of Medicine Genetic Counseling Program provides administrative support and assistance to the Program Director, Associate Program Director, Research Coordinator, students, and program faculty as needed. Assists School of Health Professions leadership in establishing and attaining goals and objectives. 

Job Duties

• Provides administrative support to the Masters of Science in Genetic Counseling Program leadership. 
• Assures continuity of operations and to ensures program leadership can fulfill various teaching, research, clinical, and administrative services. 
• Maintains and provides assistance with the interpretation of various reports and forms in accordance with accreditation requirements. 
• Serves as primary administrative contact between program and other BCM administrative offices. 
• Reviews expenditures from fund sources to verify accuracy and need and compliance to budgetary limitations. Works with program leadership to create annual and 5-year budget projections. 
• Maintains list of all eligible GC program students including applications and other relevant information.
• Maintains electronic calendar for assigned faculty/administrator using appropriate software; makes, changes, and cancels appointments as required; provides up-to-date information. 
• Prepares, proofreads and/or edits, and distributes correspondence and other documents. 
• Composes and types memos, letters, and reports as requested. 
• Maintains faculty genetic counselors and community genetic counselors list and update as needed. 
• Serves as a contact for program inquiries from prospective and current students as well as alumni. 
• Works with program faculty and leadership to ensure BlackBoard course information is updated and maintained, assists with student logbook procedural documents, and administering course/lecture review/feedback forms.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years administrative experience.
  • Fluency in MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, MS Teams and OneDrive.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Blackboard, and ExamSoft.
  • Excellent organizational skills and able to work independently when necessary.
