Job Overview

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience is recruiting a full time Clinical Research Professional. This individual will provide technical support and assistance for a designated department, program, or central unit. Duties can span a broad range of activities or be primarily focused within one or more areas of the clinical research spectrum.

Essential Functions
Plan and coordinate clinical research projects.
Reviews and develops a familiarity with the protocol.
Attends investigator meetings as required or requested by the PI/study sponsor.
Prepares study materials like case report forms (CRFs), enrollment logs, and drug/device accountability logs.
Screen patients for inclusion in study based on pre-determined criteria.
Establishes and organizes study files, including but not limited to, regulatory binders, study specific source documentation and other materials.
Works with the PI to develop and implement recruitment strategies in accordance with IRB requirements and approvals.
Conducts or participates in the informed consent process and discussions with research participants, including answering any questions related to the study. Obtains appropriate signatures and dates on forms in appropriate places. Assures that amended consent forms are appropriately implemented and signed.
Coordinates appropriate and timely payments to participants (if applicable) in accordance with university policies and procedures.
In conjunction with the investigator, document and evaluate adverse events and response to treatment.
Maintains study timelines.
Maintains effective and ongoing communication with sponsor, research participants and PI during the study.
Collects data as required by the protocol. Assures timely completion of Case Report Forms.
Data Entry/Management - gather data; assist in development of reports
Perform routine physical/clinical procedures.
Essential Functions Continued
Coordinate nursing and patient care as applicable to research studies. Actively participate in patient care and/or patient follow-up.
Ensure compliance with contract principles, federal regulations, laws and University of Cincinnati (UC)/University of Cincinnati Physicians Company (UCPC) policy and operating procedures.
Maintain regulatory documentation.
Liaison with medical staff, university departments, ancillary departments, satellite facilities, IRB, and industry contacts.
Ensure study staff complete all requisite training.
Assists the Principal Investigator in submission of accurate and timely closeout documents to applicable federal agencies, university entities, and the sponsoring agency in accordance with federal regulations and university and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.

Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree must be in a related field.
Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Trainings/Certifications
For nursing focused role, BSN in the area of clinical specialization, and RN License in State of Ohio.
For social work focused role, licensure in the area of clinical specialization.
Required Experience
One (1) year of related experience.
For nursing focused roles, appropriate clinical procedural experience.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Experience in an academic or clinical setting in the area of clinical specialization.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
