Research Associate in health policy/health services research is available immediately at the Medical College of Georgia, Department of Population Health Sciences, under the supervision of Dr. Neil MacKinnon, Professor and Provost.

The successful candidate will focus on research efforts related to health policy and health services research on a wide variety of topics, including rural healthcare, the safety and quality of the medication-use system, public health, the opioid crisis, and other healthcare issues. Both quantitative and qualitative research methods will be used, included mixed-methods research. More specifically, methodology may include interviews, focus groups, survey research, and the multivariate analysis of data from large healthcare databases and geographical data sources. The research associate will be involved in developing research proposals and submitting research proposals, guiding funded projects through institutional review boards, project management of funded proposals, and the dissemination of research including co-authoring manuscripts. Experience writing research proposals is preferred. Job Summary
Coordinates activities associated with social and behavioral research including day to day management of project tasks (e.g. scheduling and leading training sessions, IRB applications, consenting subjects, recruitment, randomization, performing interventions and analysis of results, data management and quality control). Communicates effectively with and instructs others working on projects, including principal investigator, co-investigators and graduate assistants, as well as community liaisons. Assists with preparation of research reports, grant applications, presentations, and manuscripts.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:

Coordinates and conducts research project activities and provides project management to Provost lead research initiatives.
Performs data analysis and compiles reports as required by funding agency.
Assists PI and other faculty with writing reports and papers for presentation and publication.
Assists PI in project planning and development of research protocols and techniques.
Manages project resources including ordering and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and environment.
Ensure compliance with rules and regulations associated with conducting human subject's research (e.g. proper consent of research subjects, maintenance of subject confidentiality).
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience writing research proposals is preferred.

ABILITIES
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, multi-tasking, organizational and verbal/written communication skills;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and other computer software/databases.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite often interruptions, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records and make independent decisions

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: R14

Salary: Minimum $36,197.00/Annually - $50,675.00/Annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
