College/Department Information
The Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center is the single largest investment in a cybersecurity facility in the nation to date. The $100 million facility will help to fill the current and growing shortage of cybersecurity talent in the state and nation. The Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center represents a unique public/private partnership that includes Augusta University, Augusta Technical College, the University System of Georgia's research institutions, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and other state, federal, and private-sector partners working together to meet this workforce demand and to innovate, train, and strengthen defenses.

The state-of-the-art Center is located in the growing cybersecurity corridor in Augusta, Georgia, that is also home to the U.S. Army Cyber Command and Cyber School of Excellence at Fort Gordon. The Center is located on the downtown campus of Augusta University and houses the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences.

Job Summary
The Cyber Range Engineer is responsible for providing first-level support for the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center Cyber Range platform. They are responsible for day-to-day maintenance and operation of the range under the guidance and direction of the Cyber Range Director and Cyber Range Architect. This position will maintain code repositories, file bug reports, patch systems, write documentation, and provide first-tier support for problems with range functionality.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:

OpenStack - OpenStack Installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting as an operator, not an end user. Normal activities will include deploying OpenStack and ensuring API functionality, scaling the deployment services themselves, troubleshooting python stack traces directly related to OpenStack core functionality, and other similar operational tasks.

Maintain GACITC Cyber Range - Interacting with a version control system (git) to maintain the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center Cyber Range configuration and documentation. Perform DevOps business practices, particularly with regards to applying the software development lifecycle to systems management (github flow, Cl/CD, etc.). Configurations stored and maintained in version control will Include, but not limited to server configurations, network device configurations, and environment secrets.

Prioritize upstream development tasks - Work with Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center's Cyber Range Architect, Cyber Range Buildmaster, and Cyber Range Director to determine and prioritize upstream development tasks required to perform Operational Technology integrations. Assist with testing of code developed to enable these features.

Ceph installation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting - Normal activities will include deploying Ceph and ensuring overall functionality, direct Interaction with mons, and scaling mons, osds, mds, and mgrs.

Participation in OpenStack and Ceph communities - Actively participate in OpenStack and Ceph communities through contributing code, filing bug reports, writing documentation, attending summits, or in some other related capacity.

Coordinate hardware RMAs and warranty activities - Work with Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center IT staff, as applicable, to coordinate hardware RMAs and warranty activities with Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center vendors.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a field of study relevant to information and Cybersecurity with 5 years' experience in security technologies, cyber range operations, architecture, and infrastructure OR equivalent combination of education and direct military experience in security technologies.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud computing, data science, network architecture, software development, and/or cybersecurity. Experience with Industrial Control Systems (ICS/SCADA), Electronic Warfare (EW), and Cyber Operations. Experience in creating cyber exercises, cyber training, and competitions. Federal government or military experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Advanced level knowledge in cloud infrastructure, creating documentation and working with other teams
In-depth knowledge and experience with infrastructure-as-code (IAC)
In-depth knowledge and experience with monitoring tools
In-depth technical understanding of multiple operating systems

SKILLS
Fluency with one or more scripting languages (bash, python)
Extensive experience evaluating, onboarding and managing new technologies/services/features
Advanced background with common automation/configuration management tools such as SaltStack, Ansible, Terraform, etc...
Experience in building highly available large fault-tolerant enterprise distributed systems
Experience in building highly available large fault-tolerant enterprise distributed systems
Proficiency with cloud foundational services - databases (relational and NoSQL)
Proficiency with cloud foundational services - networks (routing, firewalls, load balancers, etc.)
Proficiency with cloud foundational services - Storage (object, block, file, etc.)

ABILITIES
An ability and desire to mentor, teach people what you know and guide team members' learning, including introducing new ideas and technologies
Proven ability to conceive and lead the delivery of platforms, frameworks, and patterns that help solve problems across multiple products

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday-Friday (Some work outside normal business hours may be required)
Pay Grade: 26
Salary: Minimum $86,225/year - Midpoint $120,715
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
