Job Summary
Engagement in levels of scientific technical support of research efforts in assigned laboratory research setting. Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols. This include ability to maintain cell culture and animal colonies records and performing Western blot and RT-PCR.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:

General
Participate in projects and development of research protocols, while insuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines. Perform experiments on cells and animals according to standard lab protocols. Preparation of solution of culture media.

Ordering
Ordering of supplies and keeping journal of results, keeping lab in an orderly manner, assist and participate in research of scientific literature, summarize and evaluate findings. Ordering research materials and maintaining records of all biological and chemical materials. Updating all records related to experiments and research supplier.

Record
Working under direct supervision of postdoctoral fellow or the principal investigator to analyze experiment al data and prepare for publication/presentation.

Animal
Carry out / assist with animal studies. Maintain records of all experiments, cell and animal colonies.

Animal
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Previous experience with cell culture in particular handling retina cells such as retinal endothelial cells and glial cells, Western Blotting, Elisa, immune histochemistry and animal handling.

Preferred Experience
2 years experience in basic cell biology, techniques and skills such as cell culture, western blot and immunohistochemistry as well as PCR and RT-PCR. Maintaining animal colonies and their records.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F

Pay Grade: R9

Salary: Minimum $15.00/hour

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
