Job Summary
The Systems Engineer 2 serves in a senior level Information Technology role. This person is responsible for maintaining the operational status of Linux OS based servers and appliances and will work closely with other members of the Hosting Services team. The duties of this position are to provide Linux support to complex enterprise solutions. The candidate will be required to work both independently and collaboratively to address incidents, problems, provide access management, and contribute to infrastructure enhancement projects. Candidate is required to have strong analysis and decision making skills with the ability to participate in briefings, participate in technical cross-functional meetings, strong commitment to process, and understanding of change and configuration management principles.The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated enterprise in maintaining large quantities physical and virtual servers. The candidate should be able to be a leading contributor on large projects, be a self-starter, and able to work and operate in a collaborative environment. The Systems Engineer 2 will be in near constant communication with other engineering staff, project managers, and other project or operational stakeholders.

Responsibilities
The job duties include, but are not limited to:
DAILY ADMINISTRATION OF LINUX INFRASTRUCTURE- Daily administration of Linux OS Infrastructure (Red Hat 6+ preferred) including performance tuning and optimization of physical servers and in a virtual environment.
GATHER TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FROM CLIENTS- Meet with internal clients to gather technical requirements for new engineering requirements, document technical proposals, and be able to review with team in a clear and concise manner.
SERVER IMAGES- Building server Images to conform to customer standards, to include SELinux policies, hardening, and security compliance.
SYSTEM UPGRADES- Perform enterprise level system upgrades of operating systems, applications, and either tools, including evaluation and installation of new products, and other application patches
DOCUMENTATION MANAGEMENT- Manage documentation, and policy/procedure compliance for IT systems related to Linux environments.
ON-CALL ROTATION- Participate in after-hours requests that respond to business emergencies (on-call rotation).
CROSS FUNCTIONAL PROJECTS- Participate in cross-functional technical projects.
CREATE & MANAGE SCRIPTS- Create and manage scripts to perform system tasks utilizing bash, ksh, python, Ansible, Puppet or equivalent is a required skillset.
MONITOR SERVERS PROACTIVELY- Proactively monitor servers to anticipate and mitigate problems.
OTHER DUTIES- Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study of Computer Science,Management/ Computer Information Systems, or related field from an accredited college or university and minimum of four years of IT systems engineering experience with focus on implementing Linux systems in a virtual environment or an equivalent combination of education, training, experience and/or certifications.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of: Windows 2012,Windows 2016, Windows 2019; Office 365 administration; VMWare vSphere 6.5 or higher; Citrix XenApp 6.5; Citrix NetScaler (Citrix Access Gateway, Web Application Fireware, Load Balancer); Citrix Storefront; Active Directory (ADFS, DNS, GPO); Enterprise Backup solutions (Dell Data Domain, Veeam, TSM); Cloud hosted engineering (Azure, AWS); and SAN Technologies (IBM, Dell/EMC)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Understanding of Privileged Access Manager PAM solutions and associated tools
Knowledge of: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, 7, 8; Red Hat Satellite Server; RHEL High Availability (Clustering); and RHEL authentication using SSSD

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Practical scripting experience in automating tasks and processes in multiple languages (bash, ksh, python, Puppet, etc.)

Pay Grade:20
Salary Minimum : $55,869/ Annually- $ 75,413/Annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
