Summary

The Krishnan Lab at the Baylor College of Medicine seeks a motivated and energetic technician to assist with an NIH-funded research basic/clinical translational research program focused on the intersections between epilepsy and mental health. The technician responsibilities will be focused on data analysis, implementation of mouse home-cage monitoring and programming FDA-approved actigraphy devices for patient use. Secondary responsibilities will include assisting with mouse colony management. This position offers an opportunity to participate in cutting edge translational research and will provide a broad preparation for graduate education or careers in the biological data sciences.

Job Duties

Executes instrumented home-cage recordings of mouse behavior, as well as data extraction, graphing and basic statistical comparisons.
Works on actigraphy (programming, extracting data, graphing).
Works on data analysis and conducts implementation of mouse home-cage monitoring and programming FDA-approved actigraphy devices for patient use.
Assists with maintenance of a colony of cages, including weaning mice, transporting mice and simple behavioral assays, home-cage set up and protocol implementation. Receives in-house training for all the responsibilities.
Performs simple tasks required to maintain the mouse colony.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.
Two years of relevant experience.
