Summary

The Department of Mathematics, College of Literature, Science and the Arts, is seeking an experienced professional to work as part of the team in the department’s student services area, focusing on graduate student professional services for the Master’s degree program in Quantitative Finance and Risk Management (QUANT) and to serve as an ambassador to industry experts as part of our Erdos Institute link for our Ph.D. students. Specifically, we seek an individual who will work with the program directors to provide employment opportunities for our students, and to provide overall professional services. The person in this position represents the school and its mission to many audiences and must perform responsibly and professionally and exercise excellent judgment in dealing with the many internal and external constituencies. Responsibilities*

Provide strategic vision and guidance for the career services including database design, strategic partnership development, and thorough assessment of the needs of QFRM students related to career services.
Coordinate, monitor, and manage all aspects of the student experience with career services.
Be the outward face of the QUANT program for employer and corporate relationships.
Cultivate relationships with employers for internships and future employment for students in the program.
Employer and Alumni Engagement

Proactively identify and pursue relationships with companies that are of interest to QFRM students, world-wide.
Build QFRM’s professional network connections by nurturing strategic relationships with organizations that align with the mission of the program, and professionals in finance, risk management, and the business community.
Broker employment and internship arrangements.
Student Advising and Support

Define and track job placement metrics.
Plan and execute career development activities, including employer visits, networking opportunities, and job placement workshops for students.
Oversee the establishment of new job recruiting pipelines which lead directly to employment opportunities for students.
Advise students on job and internship search process and professional skills development.
Work with students on resume writing, interviewing techniques and skills, and provide guidelines for overcoming language barriers.
Assist QUANT Director with recruitment of a diverse student population.
Organize bootcamp for incoming students to include content preparation, lead instruction on job searching skills and technical interview preparation.
Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree or equivalent and at least five years of related management experience in finance, risk management, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience and skills in multi-tasking, initiative in creative problem-solving, and adaptability.
Proven ability to network and form productive professional relationships.
Demonstrated experience in utilizing the tools and databases required for evidence-based decision making. Expertise with computers and database/statistical software.
Demonstrated strong communication skills including verbal, written, and listening skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to staff and a diverse student body.
Desire to work in an office that places a high value on quality customer service, team orientation, and intentional planning. Ability to achieve results while contributing to the larger team. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a critical member of the team.
