Business Manager – Moffitt Medical Group

Job Summary:

  • The Moffitt Medical Group (MMG) Business Manager provides direct support to the VP of MMG, Sr. Director of MMG, and MMG Leadership with program and department needs. The MMG Business Manager supports the department/program management team for business, administrative, and operation needs. The MMG Business Manager is responsible for oversight of the MMG Data Analysts and their responsibilities with data analytics and other duties as assigned.
  • The MMG Business Manager will be the Business Owner and oversees implementation of high level MMG initiatives. The manager will lead or participate in process improvement, strategic margin management, and other initiatives. The position produces business plans, financial models, and prepares financial analysis and proforma justifications to support Physician, APP, Quality, Data Management and administrative workload analytics for the practice.  
  • Physician The MMG Manager serves as a consultant for department/program business development plans related to execution of operational efficiency growth strategies in alignment with the Center’s overall Strategic Plan. The position will develop and build operational and strategic plans for department and program growth initiatives and create implementation plans for department/program administrators to operationalize.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to develop effective business strategies or operational plans.
  • Leadership skills and strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of physician practice operations (revenue cycle components, business development, forecasting).
  • Advanced proficiency in Visio and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing projects and implementing agreed upon initiatives.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

Lead Business Development

  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert during the project development phases and then providing oversight when transitioned into operations.
  • Lead for business development activities to monitor progress and timeliness, ensure inclusion of key stakeholders, and maintain the success of various initiatives.
  • Provide strategic, operational, and implementation plans for a disciplined business development process in support of department/program growth strategies that seek to maximize value for the organization.
  • Supervision of MMG Data Analysts to provide oversight related to production and collection of relevant financial, clinical, and market data necessary for business analysis needs.
  • Lead on the development of financial models that can effectively support the strategic growth initiative. This includes working with the Finance department, internal departments, and subject matter experts that provide source data and test business assumptions.

 

Prepare Financial Models

  • In collaboration with MMG Leadership team, prepares models to facilitate decision making in many areas within the MMG.
  • Work directly with the Sr. Director on analyzing and tracking recruitment staffing models based on growth projections. Monitoring workloads and determining appropriate staffing levels and productivity metrics, for the practice.
  • Provides metrics to assist in managing provider resources optimally.
  • Engage in process improvement initiatives.
  • Assists MMG Leadership with the review of forecasting models.

 

Oversee Analyses and Data Tools

  • Oversees team of Data Analysts, responsible for development of analytic models and reporting for MMG. Business manager oversees workload and prioritizes assigned projects and recurring report development and reconciliations.
  • Becomes proficient in the use of Moffitt tools to include, but not limited to, Moffitt Institutional Reports Repository (MRR), Analytic Web Player (AWP), SQL Serving Reporting Services (SSRS), Power Business Intelligence (BI), and Oracle Analytics, Lawson reports and forecasting and financial tools.

 

Supervise Staff

  • Manage the MMG Data Analyst team members and supervise job functions, responsibilities and tasks.
  • Oversight of recruitment, employee development, performance management, and other human resource duties.
  • Works with Human Resources department to facilitate recruitment and retention.

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Accounting, Finance, Management, Business or Oncology related fields/disciplines.
  • Completed Master’s degree preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of financial analysis or project management, preferably in the healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated ability in formulating, revising, and implementing policies, procedures and standards.
  • Experience in healthcare administration, strategic planning, forecasting, practice management, Human Resource management, IT required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and implement agreed upon initiatives.
  • Employee development and performance management skills.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Applications and experienced in utilizing multiple data systems.
