Job Summary
The AVP of Data Strategy is a senior leadership role within University Information Technology Services (UITS) with dual reporting to the University Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the University Provost. The AVP will be responsible for providing executive level direction, management oversight, and strategic leadership of the University’s comprehensive data strategy. The AVP will help develop a culture focused on data informed decision making to improve student success and to help make KSU a data leader in the University System of Georgia (USG). The AVP has direct leadership oversight for the University Institutional Research functions as well as coordinating oversight for the decentralized data and analysis functions. The AVP partners with university senior leadership to develop and implement the university-wide data strategy, including all associated strategic initiatives, programs, services, and policies. The AVP will collaborate with other university leaders to identify the most efficient manners for the governance and management of data deemed essential to university improvement strategies. The AVP will also maintain strategic alignment with and liaison to the USG data management strategies.

Responsibilities
Direct management of the¿Institutional Research functions and coordinating oversight for the decentralized data and analysis functions.

Ensure all aspects of data intelligence are integrated into execution of the university strategic goals and initiatives.

Provide data-informed business intelligence, expertise and advice to the President, Provost, Deans, and other senior leaders.

Design, build and drive the overall analytics strategy, governance, control and roadmap for the resources, processes, systems and solutions required to produce and maintain the university-wide data capabilities.

Responsible for developing data management solutions, resources, and governance structures which optimize data quality, usage and ensure data protection and integrity.

Collaborate across functional areas to provide guidance, strategies, and support in effectively leveraging data to meet operational business needs.

Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Data Science/Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. Ph.D. preferred.

Minimum of 7 years progressively responsible related experience including senior leadership level.

Demonstrated ability to translate long-term strategies into day-to-day operations management including experience in aligning data and technology resources with organizational strategic goals and priorities.

Demonstrated ability to influence results in a collaborative environment.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with executives, staff and stakeholders at all levels.¿¿

Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)

Strong attention to detail and follow up skills

Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
