Job Description

Summary

The Center for Space Medicine’s (CSM) Translational Research Institute for Space Health (TRISH) is seeking an organized and exceptional software engineering and program specialist to lead in the adoption of all information technology (IT) aspects of the Institute. The Specialist will develop and provide ongoing support for multiple research databases including commercial spaceflight research and cutting-edge radiation mitigation research as well as systems architecture and interfaces with NASA systems. The Specialist is TRISH’s only in-house IT expert and will be expected to manage and perform all IT-related duties, from software/hardware integration/troubleshooting to long term technology strategy.

Job Duties

  • Interface, communicate/present, and coordinate with BCM’s Office of IT.
  • Develop and drive a technology vision and execute a technology roadmap within a virtual institute and oversee external team of IT programmers/support.  
  • Integrate software/hardware and establish connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information servers.
  • Collaborate with team members regarding requirements, schedules, and activities; troubleshoots development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
  • Experience or knowledge of public cloud environments, AWS, Azure or Google.
  • Manage documentation and communicates site improvements, security concerns, and issues to TRISH leadership.
  • Manage content, permissions, and automated applications.  Support users by maintaining documentation and assistance tools.
  • Manage the development/integration of software/hardware.   Specifically:  TRISH databases, including the TRISH Information Management System (TIMS),  Grant Research Integrated Dashboard (GRID), and TRISH’s commercial spaceflight participant database.  
  • Recommend IT solutions and continuously remain abreast of new technologies and programs to improve efficiencies and communications capabilities for TRISH and its stakeholders.  Integrate software products throughout the software’s life cycle.
  • Oversee periodic upload of project information from TIMS to NASA’s Task Book.
  • Monitor software, complete programming using various programming languages and software products, and conducts tests.
  • Assist and manage all BCM IT implementation initiatives with CSM Administrator.
  • Assist with adding new functionalities as needed by CSM.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor’s degree. No experience required with Bachelor’s degree.
