This position could be filled at the Electrical Engineering Specialist (P3) or the Electrical Engineer, Lead (P4) level. The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.

Project engineering expectations will encompass a large number of leadership duties including:

What You'll be Doing:
Give direction to ensure electrical project scope is executed successfully and in accordance with the customer's desired results and the University's standards.
Work in partnership with all members of the project team through planning, design, construction, and warranty.
Collaborate with project managers for resolution of engineering issues on projects.
Review and comment on engineering work of outside architectural/engineering firms.
Deliver expert post-project facility engineering consultation.
Provide expert electrical project engineering support through review, research, analysis, design, communication, coordination, and field observation activities.

In addition to project engineering responsibilities, this position will provide deliver facilities engineering support to operations and maintenance staff and other departments upon request. This position will also serve as a technical expert for the facility condition assessment program, performing regular condition assessments and making recommendations for repair and rehabilitation projects. Additionally, this position supports the ongoing development and upkeep of University design standards.
What You Must Have:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology with electrical emphasis
Indiana PE Registration or ability to attain within 90 days
Minimum four years post-PE registration experience in the field of electrical engineering
Design, analysis, condition assessment, project engineering, and facilities engineering experience in building electrical systems
Thorough knowledge of engineering principles and techniques of engineering planning; of equipment and materials used in engineering operations; of specialized subjects used in the fields of engineering, such as mathematics, statistics, mechanics, power, physics, and chemistry; and of strength of materials
Ability to apply engineering principles to practical engineering problems; to use engineering equipment and tools, including computer applications; to make, read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to relate abstract ideas to actual needs and adopt an effective course of action
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Ability to exercise sound engineering judgment and exhibit solid leadership to establish well-reasoned solutions
Demonstrated ability to satisfactorily perform duties equivalent to those required of the Electrical Engineer Senior position
Demonstrated ability to satisfactorily perform self-directed activities of moderate complexity with minimal engineering oversight, guidance, and assistance
A valid US or Canadian drivers’ license

What's nice to Have:
Experience with energy efficient design concepts
AutoCAD or Microstation drafting experience
Experience with electrical metering, arc flash analysis, short circuit coordination studies, and lighting and power design

Senior Electrical Engineer
This position will act as an expert resource for the electrical engineering portion of Purdue facilities projects. These duties involve providing design, analysis, and field engineering support of select projects and Physical Facilities programs. A successful individual in this role will be a tenured engineer, collaborator, and comfortable providing insight to key project decisions. Often, this individual will be expected to work independently with limited supervision utilizing broad experience and training to solve complex problems.

Project engineering expectations will encompass a large number of duties including:
Collaborate with all members of the project team through planning, design, construction, and warranty.
Collaborate with project managers for resolution of engineering issues on projects.
Review and comment on engineering work of outside architectural/engineering firms.
Provide experienced post-project facility engineering consultation.

Provide design, analysis, and field engineering support of select projects and Physical Facilities programs. Provide facilities engineering support to operations and maintenance staff and other departments upon request. Provide condition assessment support for the building condition assessment program. Provide support activities in conjunction with the development and upkeep of University design standards.

What You Must Have:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology with electrical emphasis
Five plus years' experience in the field of electrical engineering
Design, analysis, condition assessment, project engineering, and facilities engineering experience in building electrical systems
Knowledge of engineering principles and techniques of engineering planning; of equipment and materials used in engineering operations; of specialized subjects used in the fields of engineering, such as mathematics, statistics, mechanics, power, physics, and chemistry; and of strength of materials
Ability to apply engineering principles to practical engineering problems; to use engineering equipment and tools, including computer applications; to make, read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to relate abstract ideas to actual needs and adopt an effective course of action
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Perform Independent activities with limited engineering oversight, guidance and assistance
Analyze and design engineering solutions with limited engineering oversight
Exercise seasoned professional judgment within a broad framework
