Job Description

Perform Phase 1, Phase 2, or Phase 3 archaeological surveys and related laboratory analysis as assigned by Director, under direction of Crew Chief, Field Director, and/or Principal Investigator.

The Applied Anthropology Laboratories is seeking to develop a pool of on-call archaeological field technicians for use on a project-by-project basis. We have projects pending for imminent fieldwork. Join a team of experts as we Learn, Work, and Discover!

Job Function:

Perform Phase 1, Phase 2, or Phase 3 archaeological surveys and related laboratory analysis as assigned by Director, under direction of Crew Chief, Field Director, and/or Principal Investigator.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology or related field with relevant training in Anthropology and/or Archaeology.

Preferred Education:

Training in laboratory analysis of prehistoric cultural materials.
An archaeological field school, particularly with a pre-contact component.

Minimum Experience:

At least 120 hours of archaeological experience in Cultural Resource Management or under similar working conditions.

Preferred Experience:

200+ hours of Cultural Resource Management experience in archaeology.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform reconnaissance survey, including surface collection and/or shovel test pit survey.
  • Record standard field notes, including photographs, maps, and textual descriptions as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with team members to accomplish project goals.
  • Perform, independently or as part of a team, test unit excavation in controlled manner.
  • Other related duties as assigned by Principal Investigator or Crew Chief.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
