Overview
The James/Guthridge labs (james.omrf.org; Guthridge.omrf.org) are translational immunology laboratories focused on understanding the pathogenesis, prediction, prevention and precision treatment of immune-mediated diseases to improve patients' lives. We have large, complex experimental datasets partnered with detailed clinical data to help better understand disease and improve treatments.

Responsibilities
The James and Guthridge labs are hiring for a Staff Scientist to design and conduct research experiments; prepare reports and papers for publication, presentation and future research; assists with grant writing; and oversee and/or manage research projects, summarize and present results, as well as guiding/leading graduate students, postdocs, and lab staff; may manage staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of scientific theory and research; demonstrates skill in formulating and testing hypotheses; ability to conduct scientific research experiments; to analyze and summarize data and results; to write technical, scientific papers; to write grants and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to mentor students and guide/direct the work of less senior scientists


Qualifications
Ph.D. in Immunology, but Molecular Biology, Pathology, Biostatistics, Cell Biology or a related field with some Immunology training or experience accepted. Good written and oral communication skills necessary. Ability to communicate and write summaries of results required. Must be willing to serve as a project lead, assemble data, make summary slides, help with progress reports, assist with papers/presentations, etc.
