JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides PC support services as a member of the UW Department of Medicine (DOM) Information Systems Group. The incumbent will act as a specialist in state-of-the-art computing technology, developing expertise in selected technologies and in related computer science & biomedical computer literature. Members of the information systems group also participate in information technology policy development, long and short range planning, and help identify, propose and execute research projects aimed at developing new biomedical computer technology and applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides multidisciplinary information technology (IT) services to support complex IT functionality according to work unit or program's business goals and objectives.
35% Answers complex questions and provides information, creates documentation, and trains end users regarding hardware, software, applications, and technology access
35% Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots hardware, configurations, multimedia, and software applications for various environments and business needs
10% May design and execute the implementation of complex technology systems and services
10% Researches potential technology purchases and makes recommendations according to work unit business needs and requests
10% Responsible for helping to ensure that the Departments, Institutes and Centers that DOM IT is a service provider for, complies with the University HIPAA Privacy and Security Policies.

EDUCATION:
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Preferably a degree in computer science, information systems or related field of study.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2 years of desktop/laptop helpdesk support experience required.
-Experience with Microfocus OES Client, Zenworks, Office 365 & a demonstrated understanding of computer hardware architecture preferred.
- Previous Mac support preferred
-Experience working in a University research environment preferred.

WORK TYPE:
Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

APPOINTMENT TYPE, DURATION:
Ongoing/Renewable

SALARY:
Minimum $60,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
This position is eligible for a hiring bonus of 10% of the starting salary

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Primary responsibilities include
- Support faculty, research personnel and other staff with IT needs.
- Provide up-to-date application software.
- Maintain computer hardware and applications.
- Provide end-user training and consulting in applications supported by the Department of Medicine.
- Respond to help calls and provide technical expertise to analyze and resolve problems.
- Other duties as assigned.

This position has been identified as a position that will be located in or regularly access UW Health locations. This position will need to adhere to UW Health policies and affiliated requirements. UW Health requires that anyone (all staff, faculty students, volunteers, and other affiliated individuals) working in or regularly accessing UW Health locations receive the COVID-19 primary vaccination series and first booster. This position will be required to adhere to that policy and if not in full compliance to have a plan for achieving full compliance within 40 days of the first day of employment.
