The School of Journalism and Strategic Communication has a full-time, non-tenure-track, Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Director position available in August 2023. Responsibilities include teaching and academic administrative support to the unit.

Position Function: Primary responsibilities of the assistant lecturer will include teaching courses in the unit’s sports journalism and strategic communication concentrations and college-wide sports core; partnering with internal and external stakeholders and experts; managing student projects, immersive learning, and high-impact experiences; and leadership in the sports journalism and strategic communication concentrations. Additionally, the assistant director’s duties will include overseeing student success initiatives in the unit [i.e., recruitment events, scholastic outreach programs, internship coordination, and retention programs (EAB Navigate facilitator), etc.].

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in journalism, strategic communication, or sports-related field from an accredited institution.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in journalism, strategic communication, or sports-related field from an accredited institution and at least one year of part-time or full-time professional experience in sports, journalism, and/or strategic communication.
