Duties:

Under the intermittent supervision of the Database Administrator, design, develop, implement, maintain, and manage departmental databases, including web-based, data-driven applications, libraries, and web pages. Develop and maintain a control and tracking/inventory database for search, identification of, and locating of records. Create program documentation and user manuals. Develop and perform end user training through classroom presentation. Specific tasks vary from project to project and may include the following: project definition and strategy, system requirements analysis, software design and implementation, system integration and deployment as well as system operations and maintenance. Duties also include creation of data source programming and user guide documentation. Perform problem analysis and resolution of existing programs, databases, and processes using MS SQL Server and MS Access. Design, develop, and manage UAF Facilities Services internet and intranet websites to ensure compliance and consistency. Coordinate all aspects of the website production, maintenance, and content; performing routine daily, weekly and periodic major and minor updates of online text, photographs, and forms. Review website requests and project requirements with customer and/or staff, provide feasibility assessment and identify options, evaluate technology solutions and create strategy, provide estimate and timeline, design development site and review with requestor, analysis and modify site as needed ensuring compliance with all appropriate governances, implement, integrate, and deploy site. Create and maintain data source programming and user guide documentation. Course Developer and Instructor: Develop course training schedules, create and prepare course content and materials on a wide variety of hardware and software programs. Perform classroom presentations and workshops for audiences with varied levels of knowledge, education, and position status. Maintain classroom environment and computing requirements. Provide customer support ensuring end users receive appropriate assistance; identifying, prioritizing and resolution of desktop problems, including monitoring, tracking and coordinating all help desk functions. Work towards performing System Administrator and other Database Manager functions as needed and/or required. Actively maintain currency and effectiveness of technical skills by learning emerging technologies and expanding their technical knowledge through University or vendor provided training and/or self study.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: 1. Proficiency and experience with MS SQL Server, MS Access, Oracle, and various text based databases and programming.
2. Knowledge of database construction and document tracking systems.
3. Knowledge of Internet and ColdFusion servers and their management.
4. Proficiency and experience with hypertext and ColdFusion markup languages, and javascript.
5. Proficiency and experience in recent releases of AutoCAD and AutoCAD management.
6. Knowledge and experience in document management. Includes archival, electronic files, standards, and standard and hybrid filing systems.
7. Knowledge of general departmental office techniques, methods, and equipment.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
Drafting - Minimum one year experience using CAD in a production environment.

Web Programming/Computer skills: Minimum of one year experience ColdFusion, one year experience HTML web page construction. Minimum of one year experience managing web server and file server accounts and accessibility.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or other related field and two years experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

This position requires coursework or production experience in MS SQL Server, MS Access, FoxPro, and database management and programming. Other database types helpful.

This position requires coursework or production experience in Drafting Technology with an emphasis on architectural, civil, electrical, and mechanical drafting.
