Department Summary
The Division of Research & Innovation is committed to supporting, facilitating, and empowering the growth of sustainable research at UNT. This mission is achieved by facilitating an interdisciplinary approach to research — a catalyst for discovery and innovation — that has cemented UNT’s status as a Tier One research university. Overseen by the Vice President of Research and Innovation, the division is comprised of multiple units including: Grants and Contracts Administration, Research Integrity & Compliance, Research Commercial Agreements, Research Development, and multiple research institutes and research service centers.
Position Overview
The Associate Director, of Research Information Systems & Analytics provides leadership in the development, management, and support of research information systems and data analytics to serve the Division of Research and Innovation (DRI). Responsible for managing the day-to-day IT system application integration for PeopleSoft and Huron, including the Grants and Research Administration Management Suite (GRAMS) enterprise software implementation. This position is also responsible for data analytics and reporting needs of the division research administration units and executive leadership; including but not limited to developing automated data queries and scripts, extracting data from research information system databases, and other data warehouses. Serves as the primary division liaison between the research administration unit leadership staff and UNT System IT teams.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems and Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field and three years of relevant work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Organized and detail oriented, with strong problem solving skills.

Excellent communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively in team environment with employees across all levels of the university.
Preferred Qualifications
Functional knowledge of data management within an enterprise system (eg. PeopleSoft, Huron Research Suite “GRAMS”).
Technical knowledge of data reporting tools (eg. PowerBI, SQL).
Experience working in university research administration division.
Required License / Registration / Certification
Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Some evenings and weekends as required.

Job Duties
o
Collaborates with DRI administrative unit leadership staff to develop and implement analytic data reporting and online dashboards to support routine and ad hoc research data reporting needs. Ensures accuracy and integrity of research data reporting that is used by both internal and external stakeholders.

Provides support for the Division of Research & Innovation staff with troubleshooting and issue resolution of research administration information systems and software applications.
o
Serves as the division liaison to collaborate with UNT-System Information Technology Shared Services (ITSS) to integrate the division’s data management needs with ITSS processes to improve efficiencies.
o
Other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor.
