Job Summary/Basic Function:
Reporting to the Head of Library Technology Services, the Systems and Web Services Librarian provides management and coordination of the University Libraries’ web presence including the website, catalog, and other end-user platforms, and maintains library web services interfaces to ensure usability, accessibility, and brand consistency. This position collaborates with the Office of Marketing for website development and with the Libraries’ Web Advisory Team to ensure discoverability of library resources and integration between library systems, and to evaluate the user experience pertaining to library web services. This librarian provides support and instruction for staff-facing applications to facilitate information sharing, communication, collaboration, and project management. The Systems and Web Services Librarian is responsible for the Libraries’ authentication systems, working with vendors and the Computing and Telecommunications department to ensure uninterrupted access to licensed library electronic resources. This librarian contributes to library services and projects, and serves on library and campus committees and teams.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in library or information science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program by start date
2 years of library experience (can include student or graduate student employment, internship or practicums accepted)
Experience providing technology support
Preferred Qualifications
Strong collaborative skills and user-centered focus
Experience with content management systems
Experience with integrated library systems
Experience with Microsoft 365 applications
Experience administering Springshare LibApps
Knowledge of HTML5 and CSS
Knowledge of current best practices for accessibility
Essential Functions and percent of time:

Website Coordination: Responsible for maintaining the content and organization of the University Libraries’ website. Acts as the primary liaison to the Office of Marketing for website development and design. Works with University Libraries’ staff to organize content according to best practices to ensure usability, following accepted accessibility standards. Participates on the University Libraries’ Web Advisory Team and leads web-related projects.

Application Support: Responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the University Libraries’ intranet using Microsoft SharePoint. Responsible for maintaining e-mail groups used in public-facing forms and for inter-departmental communication. Primary liaison to the Computing and Telecommunications Department for development within Microsoft 365; assesses new applications for their applicability to University Libraries departments, teams, and projects. Provides instruction and consultation for library staff in the use of Microsoft 365 apps (SharePoint, Groups, Teams, Forms). Manages the library’s web service properties in Google Analytics, providing statistical reporting and analysis, as well as instruction for University Libraries staff. Provides backup for other applications supported by the Library Technology Services Department including the integrated library system and LibApps.

Authentication: Manages the library’s EZProxy system to ensure continuous, streamlined access to licensed library electronic resources. Collaborates with the Computing and Telecommunications Department for server and application updates, and Shibboleth authentication. Maintains authentication integrations within other library systems (Tipasa, LibCal). Ensures the library is current with authentication standards and methods. Works with library vendors to ensure uninterrupted access to library resources.

Web Design: Responsible for interface customizations within library vendor systems including designing and developing templates, ensuring responsive display, and integrating consistent branding, using HTML and CSS and incorporating usability and accessibility standards.

Service and Professional Development: Participates on committees, teams, and project groups within the University Libraries, Wright State University, and OhioLINK.
