Job Profile Summary

Under limited supervision, this position is to provide direct service and support to prospective, current and former students from the point of application through paid enrollment in students’ first semester using a case management approach. This includes information regarding the College’s programs and services, admissions and registration, proof of residency, transcript evaluation, orientation, assessment of learning, facilitating student engagement in academic and career planning activities, student success skills, college policies and procedures, and student co- and extra-curricular activities offered at the College.

  

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master's degree in Counseling or Education preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Six years of relevant experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily - 25%: Responsible for supporting students from the point of admission through first term paid enrollment.  Such activities include engaging students in academic and career planning assessments, interpreting those assessments, assisting students in the development of a first term academic plan that addresses their interests, skills, and abilities, and assisting students in clarifying their career, major, and academic goals. The personnel in this position have a complete understanding of the 8 Pathways and associated college programs of study. Additionally, this position is responsible for facilitating learning opportunities about college policies and procedures, student success skills and resources, and student life opportunities.
  • Daily - 25%: Responsible for collecting, reviewing and assessing applications, and related documents for compliance and eligibility for admission.  Determines if testing is required and informs student. Provides routine advice and guidance regarding the application process, admissions policies, and document requirements. Responds to email/telephone inquiries from students about advisement, registration, transfer information and other procedures or policies at BC. Sets-up, updates and continuously improves current and evolving web-based/electronic advising activities.
  • Daily - 15%: Support students in ensuring that deadlines are met for completing FAFSA and additional required documents, if selected for verification and the completion of Next Generation application.

  • Daily - 10%: Assists the Associate Dean, by providing lead assistance of daily functions to Admissions & Registration Specialists and Admissions Officers.  Facilitates advising for students at the New Student Orientation sessions. 
  • Per Term - 10%: Schedules and monitors First Year Experience sessions and advising appointments, as applicable.  Assists with updates and revisions to student services and academic affairs materials and multimedia presentations. Conducts/facilitates group advising and registration sessions for new students.
  • Weekly - 10%: Reviews transcripts to ensure eligibility for admission to a specific college or program including unofficial evaluation of transfer credits and applicability of academic credit to program requirements. Monitors the receipt of all applicable official transcripts and collaborates with the transcript evaluators for the timely official evaluation of official transcripts.

  • Other - 5%: Performs related duties as assigned.
