Job Profile Summary

Under limited supervision, this position has the responsibility of administering the compensation programs to the faculty and staff of the College. Recommends salary adjustments; responds to inquiries and assists with employee compensation and classification questions and concerns; provides analysis and assessment in the areas of compensation, classification, and report writing; ensures continuity of position data, assists with preparing training materials; conducts employee seminars/trainings; and, conducts and completes salary surveys. Frequently communicates with all levels of faculty, administrators and staff.

  

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Six  or more years of Human Resources, Talent & Culture or closely related experience. Public sector experience in compensation and classification strongly preferred.
  • Master's degree may be substituted for equivalent years of experience.  

Essential Functions:

  • Daily- 15%: Organizes workflow within the Compensation/Classification department to ensure review of salary actions, documentation preparation, salary/classification recommendations, and approvals. Provides high level administrative support; creates, maintains, and organizes complex record-keeping logs of all department analysis and recommendations.
  • Daily -10%: Resolves issues and conducts compensation research in coordination with budget, payroll, records management, and recruitment.
  • Daily -10%: Responsible  to create/update/modify position and classification/ compensation information to ensure data accuracy within Workday. Provides guidance and direction in documenting and updating position descriptions to ensure consistency and adherence to TRS guidelines.
  • Daily -15%: Provides data analysis, implementation, and verification of salary adjustments and schedules in accordance with union contracts, Board of Trustee provisions,  College Policy & Procedures, and State/Federal guidelines. Compiles and analyzes data  to recommend appropriate salaries for perspective employees, transfers, in-range adjustments, and reclassifications.
  • Daily -10%: Assists employees with compensation, classification, and position description requests inclusive of technical assistance within the Workday system.
  • Weekly -5%: Conducts analysis of position descriptions to determine appropriate classification placement within the Colleges job architecture structure (Total Reward Strategy), policies & procedures, internal job leveli review, and the external market as appropriate. Conducts desk audits as needed.
  • Quarterly- 5%: Researches, analyzes, and compiles data surveys received from outside entities as well as conducts salary and market studies. Participates in national surveys such as COBA, CUPA, and other outside agencies.
  • Quarterly- 5%: Generates salary notification letters, faculty & administrative contracts, and other related correspondence to employees. Provides support in updating the annual salary schedule and board approved initiatives as needed.
  • Other, As Needed- 5%: Collaborates with College Business Process Architects to compile, analyze, and validate data required for Federal, state and local reports. Assists in the resolution of issues by testing compensation defects as needed.
  • Bi-Annually- 10%: Serves as the designated tester for Workday releases by executing functional and regression testing, recommends enhancements, and exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices. Utilizes HP Quality Center to communicate testing status with Quality Assurance department. Responsible to stay current with WD releases to communicate updates to department team and ensure testing plans reflect updates.   
  • Monthly- 5%: Updates and maintains the compensation website to provide accurate and consistent information to the Broward Community (i.e. updating salary pay guides, etc.)  
  • Other, As Needed -5%: Works on compensation projects and other duties as assigned.

  • In-depth functional knowledge and expertise in area of specialization and general knowledge of related areas in the College
  • Ability to perform complex administrative analysis with only general supervision
  • Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills used appropriately influence the decision making of individuals and groups at all levels in the College
  • Ability to plan and manage own work flow, priorities and results accomplishment
  • Requires the ability to present and disseminate data to various levels
  • Requires advanced knowledge of computerized systems and operating environments, i.e. Microsoft Office Products and specialized computer systems
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with a diverse employee and student population.
  • Ability to interpret, apply and guide faculty and staff in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
