The College of Southern Nevada Academic Advising Department is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant II at the North Las Vegas Campus.

Under the direct supervision of the department Manager, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Answering multi-line phones. Greeting visitors, checking in students with appointments, assist in managing departmental email account.

  • Organize and coordinate department activities.

  • Assist in formatting, editing, and producing a variety of complex materials such as brochures, newsletters, flyers, presentations, charts, graphs, and instructional material.

  • Maintain complex databases and spreadsheets; convert documents for internet usage and maintain web hyperlinks as assigned.

  • Prepare and maintain property inventory for the department. Perform periodic physical inventory of the Academic Advising office.

  • Provide standard and routine information concerning institutional policies and requirements.

  • Assist students in completing forms to request change of major, application of graduation, independent study and other requests.

  • Perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial, and administrative support duties for the Academic Advising Department.

  • Must become fluent in database systems including Workday, Canvas, MyCSN, 25Live, QLess and MyCoyotePlan.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff.

  • OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service.

  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This is subject to change during peak advising and based on organizational needs.

Starting Salary

Grade 25, Step 1 - $34,305.84

Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
