Summary


A position is open for summer students to participate in research projects related to neurodegenerative diseases at the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute (Baylor College of Medicine).

 

No previous research experience is required. The students will join a dynamic team of researchers using state of the art techniques in genetics, molecular and cellular biology, protein quantification and in vivo behavioral testing.

 

The students will be mentored and quickly brought up to speed so they can be meaningful contributors to the projects.
 

Job Duties

  • Conducts behavioral testing of animals using state of the art facilities.
  • Performs cell-biology techniques using state of the art confocal microscopy.
  • Uses advanced techniques for protein quantification.
  • Performs hundreds of genetic crosses for the required experiments.
  • Conducts strain maintenance.
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a High School or College Student (undergraduate or graduate).
  • No experience required.
